Web-Scale Architecture Reduced Data Centre Rack Space by x16

Norway – 27 June 2016 – Nutanix, a leader in enterprise cloud computing, is overhauling the IT infrastructure of Norwegian application services provider, Ikomm.

The provider of ICT services to both the private and public sectors chose Nutanix’s enterprise cloud solution for the high-scalability needed to support the delivery of 800 applications to more than 25,000 of Ikomm’s end users throughout Scandinavia. The move represents the first major transformation of Ikomm’s IT architecture since the company’s conception in 2009 and it is designed to power an ambitious fivefold turnover target.

Natively converging compute, virtualisation and storage into a resilient, software-defined solution underpinned by rich machine intelligence, the Nutanix solution leverages web-scale engineering and consumer-grade design. The result is a highly scalable, pay-as-grow simplicity without compromising the control, security and predictability that users have come to expect from on-premise infrastructure.

In replacing Ikomm’s previous mix of SAN, network and compute infrastructure – which had become slow, inflexible and expensive to operate and maintain – Nutanix’s solution is helping Ikomm drive seamless network expansion and the swifter deployment of compute and storage, which will be key to faster growth. Deployed in just two days, Ikomm has already seen a 16 fold improvement in the utilisation of data centre rack space.

The Nutanix solution enables customers to choose which hypervisor they want it to run on – a unique feature – which in the case of Ikomm will be the Hyper-V hypervisor. Additional features, including app mobility, capacity planning and the ability to leverage the public cloud for back up and disaster recovery, further enhance the offering.
